Scrapheap Adventure Ride

Posted by naz on April 6, 2011

In 11 days or so I am accompanying my mate Tina on the Scrapheap Adventure Ride. The event is held on the 23rd of April at Cameron’s Corner, this tiny outback town is where the borders of Nsw, Qld and Sa meet.

The Scrapheap Adventure Ride raises money for Down Syndrome. The premise is to start with a bike which cost less than $1000 and spend any additional sums on the bike to make it roadworthy, then ride it to the Corner. To sponsor us please visit: http://www.thankq.net.au/tq_community_dsyna/PersonPage.aspx?Ref=P12022%2F1586

We have another member in our team: Shannon, although he cannot ride with us but will meet us at the corner. His boss isn’t letting him have the extra time off work.

Tina has built a scrapheap bike and its a beauty! (I am riding Charlie) The bike is called SaggyAss and it began as the bits and pieces of a Sachs Madass.

These suppliers have been fantastic with help getting the required parts to make sagy the bike she is.
Sagy and Tina really appreciate their help and support.

I will be posting a lot about our ride in the coming weeks, including updates from the road if possible and a link or embedded map with check ins from my Spot Tracker. For me this ride is a big deal: I haven’t ridden on sand before or much mud and there should be plenty of both! The longest ride I have done is four days and we will be gone for 10! Watch this space for more info :)

Hi! I’m doing the publicity for the Scrapheap ride through Down Syndrome NSW! Could you please shoot me an email with your details? Would love to try and get your story in your local paper!

    Thanks!
